Ah yes, we use cars and therefore AI slop is art.
I feel you there. I’ve had periods of time where motivation in general was easier and thus I could more easily feel up to taking a walk, and that almost always made me feel better. It truly sucks when you don’t feel able to find the motivation. And I’m not trying to make it sound easy, but if you force yourself on occasion to do small exercises like walking, you’re more likely to find your way back to the place when you’re automatically motivated.

8·4 days agoOkay this meme template suddenly getting used multiple times in a few days after I watched the Truman Show makes me feel like I’m in the Truman show and the director is just kinda trying to fuck with my head.

1·4 days agoI’m pretty convinced that many Internet posters are annoying on purpose. So yeah, engagement bait if not rage bait.

2·7 days agoI have. I suspect though that it was because of this one day a weird mod was banning people en masse for downvoting their accusatory post where they listed a bunch of users they claimed are Zionists. With no evidence at all. Everyone who downvoted it got banned from their community immediately. Then I noticed the weird bot behavior a day or two later. I saw another user complaining about the same bots doing this to them also. If it’s that mod, it’s a very strange and spiteful thing to do but it wouldn’t surprise me. People are strange.

Programming@programming.dev•Self-documenting code: if the comment is doing the explaining, the code isn't
4·7 days agoI have never gotten anywhere with coworkers arguing this. They write the dumbest comments and resist feedback in PRs. Now with LLMs we’re adding a bunch of unit tests that are about half comments. I cannot begin to express how useless these comments are. No one is going to read 15 paragraphs to understand a slop unit test. If that shit breaks it’s not going to be obvious why. Between the verbosity and writing style, these comments are some of the least grokable shit I’ve seen in my career. My coworkers have basically let me know that my feedback is noted but they disagree.

3·7 days agoYou are noticing a very weird phenomenon that’s been ongoing for about a month now. I’m the target of 3-4 bots that downvote most things I comment. It’s a very weird thing someone is doing and the instance admins who could stop it have ignored me so far.

3·8 days agoFrom what I’m reading now, I’ve seen some big ones. Comparing the adults to dogs or raccoons though, to me still seems fairlly incorrect. Dogs can be really big, but a 7 foot nose to toes bear isn’t super rare from what I can tell.

I woulda been so lost if I hadn’t seen that movie again recently. It’s so good.

Yeah the square cut seems like a bad idea to me. Not the worst thing but why not just cut the pieces into smaller wedges if you’re trying to make sure more people get a chance at a fair share of food?
