we also live in a world which has now known that premise and used it for 300 years, which makes it seem much more trivial than it was at the time.

what if it needed just one more second to complete?
i don’t think i’m in the wrong place at all. capitalists needs wage labor to extract profit. by owning the critical infrastructure they can limit the ability for people to provide their own necessities. this forces people into working to earn money so they can buy what they need to survive.
i would love to see a solarpunk utopia or fully automated luxury gay space communism, but the existing system will do everything it can to not let that happen because it will lose all of its power in the process. eliminating “work” and minimizing the individual effort required to survive (and thrive) on a massive scale will never happen under capitalism, so fighting against capitalism is actually one of the most antiwork things you can do.
the destruction of capitalism and with it wage slavery. short of a violent revolution, change will first require prying power away from the capitalist system. historically, people from across the political spectrum have recognized the organizing power of unions and leveraged them.
unions have transformed the workplace over their history and are probably the most promising antiwork mechanism that exists today. in the US, we have unions to thank for the following:
i think we can all agree the victories of the past have dramatically changed the lives of every worker, but we can also agree that there is still so much more to change. Is what the UAW doing now the end? Obviously not, but they are at least moving in the right direction and that is how we will make progress if necessary.
the farmer saying he treats the animals like family, which one might imply means he treats them well. but his family has to secretly run away from him due to abuse (insinuated by the wife quickly leaving with the kids). this mean he probably also abuses the animals, which is opposite of the implied meaning.
I wish we would just keep adding E’s so long threads would be REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
which also happens to be the noise I make when I see them.
