Yes, if rail were so good all the families and normal people who value there lives could take it, meanwhile the interstate could go turn into no speed limit chaos where all the rich people with huge egos and small dicks can crash their Porsches into each other without killing an innocent person whose just trying to get to work.

He was one of the key figures in the corporatization of NASCAR.

I think there’s some debate among fans as to how much of that was him as opposed to him just driving and leaving the business to other people and being okay with his face and signature getting plastered everywhere.

These memes go hard though so I don’t care that much

The real answer is, it’s complicated. I thought this quote was interesting and telling though.

Dale’s daughter Kelley recalled an incident that occurred in her childhood, when her father placed a bumper sticker reading “American By Birth / Southern By The Grace Of God” on the rear of his truck. The family’s black housekeeper mentioned that the sticker, which featured the Confederate flag, made her uncomfortable. Dale immediately took a pen knife and slashed the flag off his truck, leaving the expression of Southern pride while divorcing it from the region’s sour history
