In the US “skinhead” has a different meaning besides just being bald and aggressive. It’s what neo-nazis are referred to as because they co-opted that whole punk look.
Honestly, I blame cops. Cops proudly look like thumbs over here, so right wingers have mostly captured the bald aesthetic. Bald and aggressive white men are assumed to be fascists because that’s what off duty cops look like. It’s worse to look like a cop than a civilian Nazi skinhead.
When I was in high school, the worry was finding a cool punk band and discovering they were skinheads.
