The dichotomy of me: I have always wanted pet rats. I have also lived in a home with a horrible rat infestation. Like, to the point where whole sections of wall have been missing from them chewing them. Keep the food in plastic totes instead of cabinets, and they still chew through the totes. Wild rats, while the same species, are truly horrible to live with them. Not their fault. They’re still adorable, intelligent little creatures. But good God does it absolutely suck to have them free ranging themselves in your walls

“my ancestors ran so I could stand”
I had one, and it was great for listening to my CDs when I was laying in bed, but if I had to actually walk anywhere I took my walkman and a bookbag full of tapes (half of which were books on tape and not actual music lol). Dealing with the skipping was just too damn irritating. Walkman was the clear winner for my use case
Dharma Curious@startrek.websiteto memes@lemmy.world•The perk is actually kind of a downgrade8·1 year agoI’m not gonna lie, I straight up love taco bell. I avoided it for years and years because of the stereotype about it making you sick or being cheap and gross. Then I was out a few years ago and had 2 dollars in change and an empty belly. That shit was good and no stomach upset. It’s now my go to fast food, especially considering it’s easy as hell to get veggie options.
Also, gas/bloat is not specific to taco bell, it’s fucking beans. Eat anything with beans and you’re gonna get gassy. Not directed specifically at you, just anyone who needs to hear this.
I honestly used to love a traffic jam on the way to work. An extra hour I wasn’t at work, just chillin’ listening to my music, not being at fucking work. It was great. If traffic was completely stopped, like put it in park, turn off the ignition stopped, then it was Netflix on my phone time baby.
Traffic jams on the way home suuuucked though. At the time real time traffic info in my area was spotty at best, though. Almost impossible to use as an excuse now.
I am ashamed to admit I have never tried this, and just learned to throat the hard way. :/
OMG, yes!
When I was like 11 or so, we had a company called EarthLink for Internet, and when we tried to cancel one month because we were broke, they gave us 3 months free. After the third time of that happening we realized we didn’t have to pay for Internet anymore, and spent the money on a second phone line instead.
It. Was. Glorious.
A wire coat hanger shoved into the back of the TV to get it working
Going next door to borrow the phone because you’ve been downloading something all day and didn’t want to lose it
Being hyper aware of the current status of the street lights in summer evenings
Dharma Curious@startrek.websiteto Memes@lemmy.ml•How often had I overlooked women's contributions ?15·1 year agoI just finished TLA. I’d never seen it, and now I have, and it’s gone, and my life feels empty. Why would you bring this up? Why would you hurt me so?
Korra is good, but it doesn’t hit the same, and 70 years is not enough to fully industrialize a society.
Is this a book in the culture series? I’m about half way through consider phlebas

Dharma Curious@startrek.websiteto memes@lemmy.world•Virgin pork bacon vs. Chad Kosher bacon3·1 year agoIs it good? I’ve wanted to try beef bacon for years, but never have been able to find it. I plan on going veg next month when the food stamps roll in, so I don’t know if I’m ever going to get the chance D:
This is bringing a tear to my eye. It’s fuckin beautiful
Oh this is amazing. What’s dough and ray, though?
Anytime!
And I’m sure there are much better introductions, but Vivekananda is a downright gas to learn about. Either the first or second (I forget) blog post was an introduction to the Swamiji and his address at the world’s parliament of religion. I hope you enjoy. :)
Ah, okay. Yeah, Runes is my baby. Agnes has been knocking around in my head for years at this point, and I hope to do her justice one day and write an actual, real novel.
Fair warning on the philosophy stuff, I’m batterscained, and it’s a bit rambly. If you like nondualism, Hinduism, Vivekananda, etc, it might be interesting. I need to post more. :/
Oh! I thought you meant my comment to the other poster, saying join us, as in the anarchists.
Joining up, I think, just emails you if I ever manage to post anything. When you say you read the first entry, do you mean the runes of flight snippet, or some of the philosophy stuff? Runes of flight is a completed short story I wrote for school, based on a random reddit comment I made once. Haha. I’ve been meaning to get back to it for a while, and posted it on there to sort of grease the wheels a bit for writing more. Regardless, I’m glad you like what you read. :)
Aww. You may be the first person to actually read my blog. Lol. What is your question about joining?
Oh that was a big part of it. Thankfully, we no longer have to deal with a rat infestation, not in a long time. But I still keep all my mason jars and jelly jars. Lol. Öld habits. They’re also great in lieu of Tupperware, and depending on the type and how much you fill them, they’re freezer safe. I love my mason jars and cast iron lol
