I hear ya! But we don’t seem to have many fans of old-timey comics on this sub. :S

Great stuff, with a sort of dark, ‘Saturday Evening Post’ style. Also a nice throwback style to strips that went back to the 60’s and even 50’s.
Jokes aside, this is both great tribute and super-disrespectful.
Was that the intended aim?
Damn, this is just too…
well, too absurdly clever for my pitiful arse!
So yeah, could we maybe see a real-world example to help idiots like myself understand what’s really going on here…?
Since we’re nitpicking, I’m not a fan of the googly eyes. At least if you’re going to do that, maybe shape them a tad bit more like their natural eyes. That way it’s less distracting, altho yes-- I get the idea that they’re “anxious animals.”
Wow, that’s great! Cute, amusing, clever, nice storytelling, nice art, nice mastery of overall cartooning.
I’ll be adding this series to the list unless there’s any objections.
I liked my original Mac too, but certainly missed the deluxe keyboard and two-button mouse. :S
Haha, right…
So a load of wishful geniuses & wannabe comedians commenting here, but where’s someone like Sam Kinison to scream OHHHHHH!!!??
(oh, that’s right)
Wow, some major Jonny Hart vibes there!
Oh, hay-all yes!
Whoa man… it seems like this hilarious comic *might just* be starting back up after a bloody five-yr hiatus working on their video game. To wit:
This is from 1969:

I wouldn’t be surprised if the original joke goes back to the silent movie era.
Best webcomic I’ve read in a while. The intrinsic hilarity of the situation was ridiculously refreshing compared to the usual ‘straining to come up with something funny / clever.’
Unfortunately for us fans, it looks like Callery Kearns may have retired. Maybe you know something more?
Can someone explain this one for me?
Apart from the algorithm-angle, I kind of enjoyed it as an analogue to institutions like Christianity. Think of the formula as a typical sculpture of Christ on the cross-- commonly revered by millions, but at its heart, something which doesn’t add up in today’s world, leading millions of slavish worshippers astray over and over again.
(haha, and yes, that was a cynical interpretation indeed)
Hahaha… I’ve pointed that out so many times that I’m glad it eventually stuck, i.e. the ‘cardboard cutout’ thing and the windows built out of physics from Flatland.
I needed to preserve that NAPGism.
I know I’m frequently complaining about Gallagher’s consistency of professionalism, but it really is sort of wonderful the way he’s such a huge slacker in that way. So much more interesting than the consistent but totally banal ‘production type’ comics of some of his colleagues.
Highlights for me:
Side note: another example of Gallagher more and more seeming to disregard his model sheets for the characters.
I mean Iggy, here. He looks like sort of a bigger, redneck version of the character. Or maybe it’s just his stunt double and they goofed up the take.
Really cool to see Caspar Milquetoast utilised as some grist for the mill. (and Magritte of course)
The Timid Soul is super-dated in some ways, but I think speaks rather eternally to the neurotic in all of us.
Both drawn with almost the exact same figure (and face), of course.
I’m not really complaining, but I find this pretty common across comics, which is somehow kind of a let-down.
