I don’t really think there’s ever a pass to staring at anyone’s chest except a partner or a very specific friendship energy.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL you shouldn't bring camouflage on a cruise.English
4·6 months agoPeople disagree because it’s still an abstraction of camo. Wearing it in the first place came from people fawning over militarism.
I actually think it can work with a queer look in one of two ways, so you are likely fine: Either it’s effectively teasing the pro authoritarian militarism camo types, or it’s a radical anarchy armed rebel look, which without praxis is really just the former look again. Either way these are fine.
Another reason maybe you’ve been downvoted is that people loathe the deep abstraction of modern, or rather postmoderm society. Camo was made for soldiers > Camo was worn by patriotic civilians simulating the soldier aesthetic > particularly under the Bush administration, it became less a symbol of soldiers, and more a symbol of patriots. Patriotism is nationalism.
Today when most of us camo in the military cosplaying way, we think ‘nationalist’. When we see a person in a little bit of camo, perhaps just some came shorts and a regular t-shirt, we think either ‘nationalist’, ‘okay with nationalism’ or ‘ignorant of nationalism’.
So when most people see someone in a blended queer and camo look, they probably assume one of three things: ‘ignorant of nationalism’, ‘critical of nationalism in a rebellious manner’ or ‘pro nationalist queer’. Of course one of these is fine, but one is very bad.
I work a lot of fancy events as a caterer and often have a drink behind the scenes, but often these events are in random offices with no bar support, resulting in us drinking strange concoctions.
Spanish coke is popular, which is just red wine and coke. This is probably second only to white wine spritzers. Separately in day events, we’ve found putting espresso into coke over ice is surprisingly okay, I wouldn’t say it’s better than the sum of its parts, but probably on par with normal coke.
So I had the wise idea of shaking espresso, coke, and red wine together, just to see what it tasted like. I’d truly give it a 5/10. Which isn’t bad if not for the fact that I’d give each ingredient alone a 6/10 or better.
This guy pops up everywhere online with screenshots of his silly tweets, and every time I think it’s Edward Snowden.

It takes me to the end of tweet to realise that’s a crazy post for him, and go back and read his name properly.
Their success came from it being specifically longer. It’s much harder to visualise a bigger surface area, like how a 10 inch pizza is bigger than two 7 inch pizzas. Subway on the other hand only stretches it in one axis, so the number goes up faster.
I don’t want long burgers, although I don’t know why. Big fan of the circle.

10·1 year agoFunnily enough The Witcher 3 is one of the games I always think of for the trope of not following the plot. Often I think of the ludonarrative dissonance specifically between Gestalt’s paternal drive to find and protect Ciri Vs Gwent.
For large scale, AAA open world games, I mostly think of Breath of the Wild, which transparently sets itself up as being about taking as long as you need to get strong enough to save the world and Red Dead Redemption 2, which doesn’t care about the stakes of the world.
I sometimes can’t wrap my head around the fact that Witcher 3, BotW and RDR2 were each two years apart. I don’t feel any open world game has occupied the cultural space those games did since.

32·1 year agoA pop star that has had an enormous rise to popularity this last year. By all accounts, she seems to be a very good person who’s main controversies have been burn out and stress from becoming a household name overnight.
You’d probably recognise a fair few if her songs from just hearing them in public. A lot of songs from her album were very well received.
I wanna read more about this draft, but when I Google it, I only get hits for the 2000s movie’s earlier drafts.
What do you mean? Genuine question, I’m loosely familiar with the the issues with Discord having it’s growing issues with data and advertising but I assumed Nitro was the worst element.

6·2 years agoOh no, I hate this art and design style:(
Some of my fondest memories and best bonding experiences are from getting horrendously drunk with somebody. I’m not sure if it’s safe for dating because you need to trust the other person to be a decent human being while drunk, but most people are.
If it’s just the two of you, or you and strangers you’ll never meet again, you’ll end up with a better bond from this shared experience, because neither person comes off worse than the other if you’re both black out.
Also of course it’s not a cute idea? The post is clearly humourous.
I made them all up except Pitbull who definitely is not this kind of artist it’s all good. I’m the same as you I’ve not heard of any so I was recreating the feeling I had reading the first comment.
Peter musicey? The big zoop band? Mooose? Spider-Man 2? Donny and the fridge raiders? Pitbull? Shani Block? I can’t believe you haven’t heard of these guys.
The photo is absolutely true. Not just are there several AI artifacts but her face in the photo is identical to a photo from a photoshoot that came from vogue, meaning it’s very likely that she wasn’t at this photoshoot at all.
Honestly, particularly as someone who only married into the royal family, my heart goes out to her for whatever is going on. It’s clear that since that operation she’s been out of the public eye, whether she’s just recovering, in a coma or as some believe dead, it’s still sad.
What I don’t understand is the cover up and mystery, particularly when it comes to the wife of the future king after the massive amounts of drama and conspiracy around Diana.
I also assumed the swooper still decelerates you a little even if not by much. If you’re falling at 50m/s as you are trying to slow your fall by taking a skydiver pose, and a superhero caches you midair, you could decelerate over half a second and stop moving within 12 meters while still only experiencing 10g.
12m is pretty tall but not insane in a superhero style piece of fiction where people may be dropped out the sky or from tall buildings. If you want to increase that g-force to the maximum survivable limit of near 100g (in theory), you’d only need to go from terminal velocity to 0m/s in 1.5 meters. Being reasonable, being caught 5 meters above the ground would be enough for most people to survive without major reprocussions, and is always better than hitting the ground.

Gaming@beehaw.org•[Opinion piece] Starfield Killed My Hype For The Elder Scrolls 6English
5·2 years agoI was weirdly forgiving of Fallout 76 (never played it, I’m not too hot for multiplayer games) because it was made so soon after fallout 4. It always felt like one of those DLC that got so large that it got released as a standalone game, which practically any large game studio has done and Bethesda did with Arcane’s Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider.
A huge soft spot I have for the elder scrolls comes from the heroic fantasy exploration with enormous orchestral music and adventure in every direction, something people say about Starfield is that it’s large and sparse, which is accurate for a grounded space game but goes against what makes half of Bethesda games fun. Fallout falls in the middle of the pack being far more pulpy than Starfield and in 4, I feel this was a large issue with it feeling bland; it’s pulpy wackiness was toned down when it should have gone up.
I don’t expect Bethesda to give me the video game equivalent of game of thrones but I do expect the Saturday morning cartoon that I’m equally fond of, and they still hold all the ingredients to make that recipe. Unfortunately Starfield was always tonally wrong for that, but ES6 is perfect for it.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still only buy ES6 a year or so after release, maybe 2-3 if it’s really crap, but I think a fair few of the ways that they’ve deviated from the working formula post Skyrim may not be an issue here.
Because the quality of Disco Elysium comes from it feeling like a piece if art that stays with you, it is absolutely written by left leaning writers but it’s mature and elegant in it’s storytelling tbaf happens to revolve around those ideologies.
Call of duty is a for-profit propaganda tool of the US government that is rimarily a multiplayer arena shooter designed to optimise profits due to gaming addictions while passively normalising American world police imperialism.
Apologies for any typos I wrote this while drunk.
God I wish my wish waiter wore a mesh shirt, where the hell is this?

My overly ambitious Minecraft mod I long since gave up with was basically a pollution and yield mod to incentiveise a flow or early manual work > midgame automation > lategame manual work for the best resources.
