If I’m not the problem, then why are you here insulting me and my “cute little business” instead of actually answering my question?
A contrarian isn’t one who always objects - that’s a confirmist of a different sort. A contrarian reasons independently, from the ground up, and resists pressure to conform.
If I’m not the problem, then why are you here insulting me and my “cute little business” instead of actually answering my question?
I’ve been nothing but polite and asked a simple, reasonable question. You, on the other hand, showed up with hostility, personal insults, and zero interest in an actual conversation. If calmly pointing out inconsistencies makes me “insufferable,” maybe that says more about you than it does about me.
You’re the one who said explicitly - I think you meant implicitly.
Judging by the hostility, it seems that questioning these murderous fantasies is treated as just as unforgivable as being a CEO.
The picture says “CEO” not “CEO of a billion dollar corporation” Nobody has explicitly said it’s about billion dollar corporations. Atleast not in this thread except for you right now.
If you’re so reluctant to actually try and answer the straightforward question I asked, then why bother replying at all? What are you trying to achieve with these evasive, facetious responses?
I’m looking for answers, not solutions.
What’s the nuance I’m supposedly missing here? I’ve criticized the “ACAB” slogan before and asked people directly if they truly mean every single cop without exception - and more than once, the answer has been yes. So excuse me if I’m not feeling especially charitable in how I interpret a meme that’s already completely unreasonable to begin with, no matter how you read it.
Then maybe the people spreading this meme should be a bit more specific with their messaging, because all I’m hearing is “CEO bad” - and yeah, I feel somewhat threatened by that, since technically it applies to me too, even though I don’t really consider myself one in practice.
If I got murdered and the headline read “CEO killed,” I can easily imagine the cheering in places like Lemmy, where nuance often seems to go out the window.
And why are you being so dismissive of my “business” then if it’s not even about me? Seriously. Please explain yourself.
I don’t see such nuance in any of this discussion.
As long as there’s at least one person calling it out in the comments, I still have a bit of faith left in humanity. But I agree - it’s bizarre how little self-awareness there is sometimes. Nobody actually wants to live in the kind of world I see people advocating for here on a daily basis - not even the ones advocating for it.
Someone want to explain why I should be murdered for running my own construction business?
EDIT: Well, judging by the hostility, it seems this does indeed apply even to small business owners - but I’m still waiting to hear an actual reason why.
You don’t get to dismiss sexism by saying “just a joke bro” That same joke would be seen as highly offensive if the genders were reversed.
I’m not defending Andrew Tate here. My point is that when there is nobody else for these young men to look up to then they go to the only ones available.
Name one good male role model you approve of.
You kidding, right? I almost said that Aragorn doesn’t count as they’re a fictional character.
The point is that who do you expect the young men to go to? The only people willing to speak up for them are the types of Andrew Tate, Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson, Jocko Willink, David Goggins etc. Can you name a male role model you approve of?
Don’t act as if I said somethig I didn’t only because it’s then easier to argue against.
I’m not a troll - I’m a provocateur. There’s a subtle difference.
I know it’s meant to not be about small businesses, but it also doesn’t explicitly say that. Like I mentioned in another comment, I’ve similarly asked people whether “ACAB” actually refers to literally all cops or if there are exceptions, and the answers I’ve gotten have been pretty clear: no exceptions. So forgive me for not extending a charitable interpretation to other sweeping generalizations I see here.
People here are quite openly advocating for CEOs, billionaires, rich people, or even conservatives to be “Luigi’d” and it’s honestly rare to see anyone caveat those statements by clarifying which ones they’re actually talking about.
