9·4 months agoSeriously. Neurodivergent folks like myself stand an iota of a chance of being successful with a cubicle. Open floor plans are an assault on our senses and the wet dream of micromanagers. They are awful and the reason I exclusively work from home.
I would rather walk for six months than spend 5 hours squished into modern aircraft.
Not only would I be far more comfortable, I would have life experiences other than dealing with people I would rather be as far away from as possible, and I would be in better shape, and would likely make friends along the way.
Anyone contributing to open source either does it:
- on their companies dime, which means they work for a rare company building open source solutions
- at the end of their day, on their weekend, or during their vacation
Most FOSS devs are in position two. By a large margin. They could be relaxing, or earning more money doing freelancing to make ends meet, but instead they are trying to build something they want to see happen. That requires focusing on the important tasks and that often means not having time to spend on poorly reported bugs that are actually users just not RTFM and opening issues. It wastes the devs time, and projects with too much of this have development stagnate and are frequently shuttered.
And devs that just do this to get a better job stop contributions once their new job takes over their life, and then the project suffers.
Users need to appreciate FOSS devs more because some of the most important projects we need in 2025 are developed only because they want to see them happen.

…right?
This is me, though I figured out a while ago it’s better if I just ignore Daylight Savings.
My inner clock doesn’t “switch”. There’s no change. There’s just half the year where I’m up an hour earlier and forcing myself to bed earlier and it completely fucks my energy cycle.

The modding momentum is picking up quite a bit and as a game engine its far better than Minecraft.

42·7 months agoAI is opening so many security HOLES. Its not solving shit. AI browsers and MCP connectors are wild west security nightmares. And that’s before you even trust any code these things write.

56·8 months agoI mean… Those look like normal Canadian prices.
However, contextually, that stuff in Canada is actually chocolate and many US versions have little to no cocoa, and oils instead of milk ingredients. So its a rip off because its not even chocolate.

I can… But too much panning. Still hard on my eyes due to the proximity. My eyes are only bad up to about 3 feet from my face, and then they get better that most.
I hate consuming anything on a phone, prefer a monitor I can sit back from, or a TV.
I got to Waldo and said “not with these eyes on a phone.”
So mental warfare in this thing too. It required me to deselect tomatoes.

I think the word drink was originally only an action, until someone started to refer to all drinkable items as “drinks” and the language adapted.
A similar thing is happening now, as people call things that can be eaten, “eats”. So you can " eat an eat"
