I think the hate is them essentially selling a difficulty slider.
Selling character changes when you can’t start a new game without deleting all game data and cache.
The “tahun baru cina” thing used in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei isn’t uncommon or disused btw. It’s the term used by the native Malay population because Malay is the official language in those countries. A term not used by the cultures celebrating this lunar new year.
The door lock I can understand for safety reasons. Bricking the whole thing because one part broke is lazy programming.
