My healthcare governmental insurance… last time I had to request a password. Took 2 good weeks. Fucking crazy inefficient process for an application that in the end exposes close to zero PII. The juicy stuff is behind another account with 2FA and more.

8·7 months agoYeah sure but then it’s not so much about « getting a proper education » anymore. Or the education system is failing us which is even worse because then what’s the way out? How can I / we steer this situation so that people suck less? Man I’m terrified my kids will end up like that.

26·7 months agoI’m curious what would be the bar for proper education. Yesterday I was lectured by my fucking dentist (8years of college) on how poor people are all abusing the system and should lose all social protections. And he’s absolutely not an isolated case. Most of the engineers I manage are exhibiting similar thoughts about the jobless or immigrants. Again, at least 5 years of college. This shit is a poison. This is being relayed more and more by persons from 26 to 40 and I guess above all around. It feels like a national sport ; always shit on the one perceived below.
But your explanation is sooooo much less trendy… we’re back to reddit karma bullshit :-(
I wish I could use this one in our internal cookbooks… so good
Yeah they’ve first been victimised at large by society ; one doesn’t end like this by living a fun life with lots of loved ones… loneliness is shit. They found something with bits that we failed to deliver it seems.
Telco. Back then I was internal investigation. 25k employees. Bound to have some bad apples unfortunately. Honestly not weirder than elsewhere.
So do I but with exception of the unfortunate cp that calls for bleaching eyes (and security) one is more sanitary than the other…

My personal favourite remains perl for anything text oriented or for simple-ish orchestration.
TIL in English it is called assembly 😅 We had C in 2nd year, first was only cobol, assembly and pascal. Fun times :)
Cobol wasn’t that bad… the use of line numbers was weird but at the time it wasn’t unique either. Assembler now… that was a bitch… the operations weren’t exactly intuitive and playing with registers wasn’t my thing. But I could pickup cobol if I was starving no problem :)

When the power is off chances are that whatever is integrated is degraded anyway. And for actuators just choose some that fail gracefully and allow manual handling. For the rest use HA as much as possible, favour local integrations with no cloud dependencies… and when there are dependencies than make sure the override is available physically (looking at my vaillant HP). Then stack UPSes or even better home grade batteries (my next endeavour) and have backup connectivity to internet and you’re a peachy as can be.
