It is a good way to think about it. There will be a time they don’t want to hang out with dad anymore/that often. Then you start to have time for yourself again. Enjoy their attention as long as you got it!

Try and keep some simple hobbies as much as you can, then you can expand time on them when you have less to do for your kid. I actually got back into playing video games after a few years, I just had to play stuff that was “safe” for my kid to look at as well. And of course don’t overdo it, screen time for kids and all.

I also got back into reading recently, that happened around the time my kid learned to read. I hadn’t read books for myself for a long time and I forgot how much I enjoy that.
