I don’t know how much of a help ChatGPT would be in this situation without access to your schema, at least with Copilot you can write a comment in the code explaining what you’re trying to do and get some usable pointers in the generated suggestion (which takes your codebase into account).

I usually try to get a second pair of eyes on my code if something that seems relatively simple isn’t working as expected… As you gain more experience these mistakes will become less common, and easier to spot

Aside from my linux macbook, the steam deck trackpad is one of the best trackpads I’ve ever used. The “taptic engine” (don’t know the generic term) simulated clicks and feedback on the deck’s trackpad feel so much more refined compared to the standard tactile button used in the original steam controller. Being able to adjust the click pressure level too is a nice bonus.

I just wish the Deck trackpad was better at ignoring finer movements closer to the click threshold, like a standard trackpad - likely something that could be added with a future update I guess?

as a dev I absolutely love the free scrolling wheel, and the ability to quickly switch between multiple devices. to top it all off, the mx master has the most reliable and consistent surface tracking I’ve ever come across on a mouse

After one Google search on my work laptop I was looking for searx instances - a lot of those were going down too due to rate limiting 😭

I personally think some types of openly developed software projects should have a strict non-commercial license: if companies aren’t willing to contribute back to the source IMO they shouldn’t be granted permission to freeload & have volunteers fix issues their paying customers run into

Donations are possibly a bit of an exception here - there are quite a few companies that still do this, albeit growing slimmer by the day.

Another big problem IMO is the subset of users that start attacking maintainers and volunteers because their “free app stopped working” etc. I see that a lot, mostly in the arduino community, but especially egregiously on the Zabbix project - I imagine a lot of those users are companies who aren’t even paying/donating to the project

A few of the main instances are subscribed to Fediseer lists, probably wouldn’t take long for a rogue instance like that to be defederated lol

Or also possibly discoloration, I had an OLED display on my last phone, and while it was amazing in terms of deep blacks and vivid colors, the screen looked kind of tired and green-ish after 6 years of use… rip Galaxy S5

I never really got burn-in because I mostly ran my display at lower brightness levels, however pretty much everyone else I knew with an OLED just treat it like a normal display left cranked at max brightness 100% - safe to say I’ve seen a few devices with some pretty noticeable burn in text and UI element outlines 😅

My current phone is an LCD, and I may actually end up staying with LCD due to the extra brightness - particularly outside because I now use it as a bicycle computer too.

I’m a little disappointed Steam discontinued the LCD edition of their Deck (besides the 256GB model) but it’s pretty understandable looking at how competitive the handheld gaming PC market is getting, and how much of an improvement the OLED display is for colors, HDR, and battery life in particular

Glad I picked up Assetto Corsa instead. That sim is 11 years old and has amazing graphics, a thriving community, and isn’t “always online”… GTS is only 6 years old in comparison.

I think GTS and FMS are going to eventually be a struggle to sell once people catch on to the fact that these franchises are being turned into very expensive recurring game subscriptions, which is a shame given how much these types of games have been decreasing in popularity since the peak of the early 2000s

It’s Valve’s IP and assets being utilized at the end of the day sadly, and looking at the last time they got involved with Nintendo, as well as Nintendo’s hatred towards emulation and reverse engineering, I wouldn’t be surprised if Valve’s legal team considered the options before issuing a C&D to the two N64 fan projects.

From Nintendo’s perspective these are both unlicensed homebrew, implicitly allowed by the IP owner Valve… who they were in legal correspondence to fairly recently. It would be very unwise for Valve to let this slide given the circumstances, although admittedly it is not a great outcome at all

It slightly annoys me when looking for YT vids on a subject and the results are full of 10 second vertically filmed shorts 🤦‍♂️. Some are fine in some cases I guess, but the majority are just noise IMO
