I did this one time on a dark rural road, and not only did they blast my retinas with the equivalent of ten thousand supernova when they turned on their brights, but they also turned on their flashing blue-and-red lights on top of their car for a second.

I use self-checkout because I have a “20% off your entire cart” coupon that I don’t want to give up. When I scan it, I just put a random piece of paper into the slot so the machine registers that I put something in there. In this way, I kind of am getting paid to scan my own groceries.
Because of this, I christen my cartridges by licking them.
