I grew up in a small town that was full of this. You know why everyone thinks that revelations is coming true and it’s the end times? Selfishness.
Christians who believe that they’re living in the end times are narcissists, hands down. I was surrounded by them growing up. They will tell you it’s because the world is sinful and all the signs are matching but really their actual reasons for believing that it’s the “end times” is:
- They don’t need to feel guilty about using resources/polluting (God will “renew” the earth)
- They don’t need to worry about the next generation, because it’ll be over before then
- Someone else (Jesus or God or the Holy Spirit or all three in the mecha-jesus form) will save everyone for them
- They get to be raptured, leaving behind all the sinners, and thus proving that they really are better than everyone else.
It’s all pure selfishness and narcissism. I read the bible, and then I read the entire left behind series. All of them. It’s rapture porn for Christians. It’s 13 books of “Oh if only we were as smart as the Christians to accept Jesus earlier!” Of course it was, and that’s why it was marketed towards Christians, and not non-Christians. (Seriously, think about how fucked up that is that they had 13 books dedicated to that, marketed towards them, and how much they ate it up. But I digress)
Christians are more than happy to put their head in the sand. It’s why you see Christians not giving two damns about the planet or pollution, or the next generations. They don’t care. They’re going to be fine. They’ll be raptured. Everyone else? Well jokes on them because the Christians were right and everyone else deserves it.
and I haven’t even touched on the pure arrogance of assuming that of all of the generations and billions of people who came before that somehow you’re the one who experiences the return of your savior
Competition, even if we hate the competition, is good. This absolutely will keep Valve on their toes, investing in Proton, making BigPicture a true reality. One big thing I see happening soon is other media apps. Microsoft will undoubtedly have the Netflix/Disney/Paramount/Whatever apps that you’ll be able to launch, it’d be nice to get those on Steam/Linux as well. That’s the last thing really holding back my machine in terms of “wife approval”
So they’re real real eager to beat the Steam Frame. Good. They see it as a real competitor.
Personally I have a Bazzite box and honestly? Couldn’t be happier. Haven’t ran into a single game that doesn’t work on it. Dragon Age Inquisition was a pain (setting it up from the Origin store instead of Steam, then getting the controller to work), but other than that it’s been great.
You’re right, and it bugs me when people say things like “Or seattle”, my hometown, or any city. US cities get a very bad rap because our conservatives push “cities bad and scary” to small town/suburban residents, who are now terrified to go into cities. Furthermore they convince them that if you build transit or do anything for the city that the “problems” that are in the city will leak into their suburbs.
It boils down to one thing for me. These problems are real, but being able to say “City scary” allows people to shift blame to the city. Them being afraid that it could leak out to their areas proves that. It’s not the city’s fault. It’s society’s fault, and most people don’t like to be reminded that problems actually exist and our society we’ve built has real casualties. By having a homeless problem “in Seattle” or “in Dublin” it allows them to feel superior, like their town wouldn’t be the exact same if it suddenly 20x’d in size. They don’t need to think about homeless because it’s that city’s problem. Seeing homeless makes them feel things, and they don’t like that. It’s callous, it’s selfish, and it reeks of putting heads in sand as far as I’m concerned.
As for city dwellers, we’re surrounded by it every day. We empathize, we donate to our food banks, we do what we can - but most of all we don’t have the luxury of pretending the problems don’t exist. So when I see a post like this I roll my eyes. Keep your eyes down, don’t make eye contact, let them move on, and then think about donating to your local food bank or detox center. In fact, I think I’ll go donate to mine now.
Immediately at the top of my watch list. Because the movie sounds so good. I’m sure it will be.
Linda Cardellini. She is absolutely stunning IRL and a very underrated actress IMO
There are no requirements under SKG to force them to run games forever just FYI. Their wording is soft on purpose. It could mean running a server still sure, or releasing a dedicated server client, or even releasing the source code so independent developers and open source folks can figure out how to run them themselves.
Stereotypes right? More fun to laugh at a stereotype than look at actual issues.

1·1 month agoHey Jerkface :)
Completely get where you’re coming from. I’ll admit I like the occasional saucy spicy comic. I’d suggest we start with the allow tagged NSFW, and then see what happens. If it gets to be too much a new community could be spun off.
I moderate a few, and I’ve seen people too eagerly try to spin off new communities like reddit, but here it takes a long time for any traction to happen. So while I’m for more communities, spinoffs should be once there is a critical mass, like a ton of NSFW comics.

13·1 month agoThis is another example of me learning in my older age that no matter what good is attempted, people will use it the wrong way. It’s good that we attempted to stop or slow nepotism. However people will always be horrible, and they only see it as extra steps to get to what they want.
As someone who had to care for their SO as they vomited multiple times after they were roofied at a bar, from the bottom of my heart, go fuck yourself.
I remember the guy who did it, fucking coward saw my fiance, even saw the ring, and did it when she set her drink down for less than a minute while I was in line for the bathroom. As soon as I walked back he immediately walked away, and I had to care for my fiance while she vomited multiple times, INCLUDIING IN HER SLEEP, she was confused, scared, and in the morning was horrified that she didn’t remember. She had only two drinks that night, and I remember almost calling 911.
Fuck everybody who even thinks about doing something so horrible, and I shudder at what could have happened if I had decided not to go out with her and her work friends that night. Fuck guys who roofie people, and the right after fuck guys who think joking about them is funny.

They actually did. They called it Google Play Music, and Google TV/Google Play Videos. I paid for those. Youtube Music and Youtube premium are the enshittified versions of those, and they will continue to make them worse.
Oh don’t worry, I’m there, I’ll happily give money to them
