I played through it yesterday. It was interesting, and there were fun story beats, but it was very easy. With all the accessibility features and tutorials, it’s probably a great game to get people who don’t play games interested in platforming games and maybe even some RPGs.

I’ve had old Ugreen devices with a similar setup. Notably a KVM that fried my keyboard bc they failed to follow USB spec.

A-to-A cables are, in general, a hardware design smell. It’s best to avoid devices that don’t care enough to follow the spec.

Like all game mechanics, it can be implemented in a clumsy way, or as part of a rewarding movement system.

I think that skeuomorphism in games is a decent accessibility feature for people just getting into games, but also video games have been a cultural staple for decades, so it’s not really that necessary that games mimic real movement anymore.

I don’t have a good crouch-jump example, but games like Quake have taken jump movement tech to a crazy level, originally intended or not.

Once HedgeDoc 2.0 comes out with the “Explore” page, I’m pretty sure that will take over for Obsidian for me. I have played around with all the fancy features in Obsidian, I just don’t think I need the majority of them.

Yet another project that claims to be open source, but isn’t actually licensed under an open source license. This one doesn’t even have an explicit license, so it’s “all rights reserved”

When I was in high school, before smartphones, I would sit on the left side of the classroom, put my flip phone in my left hand next to my thigh, and play Tetris one handed. I’d have my pencil in my right hand to make it look like I was taking notes and would pause periodically to look up and look like I was paying attention. It got me through the vast majority of classes haha.

The Gagguino project is a counterpoint to this. They have some extremely limited documentation, but to really build one you probably are going to need to dig into Discord. I hate it. The project is really cool, though, and I’m building one right now.

I’m in. The multiplayer games that I mostly play are Civ 5/6, BG3, and Tetris Effect.

I’m looking forward to Ara: History Untold, but I’m biased bc my buddy is developing their AI system.

I agree that short-term rentals are bad, but having more normal rental units, if there is demand for it, is not a bad thing. It’s profitable and desirable for people/companies to buy up houses to rent because the rental demand is not being met and they can charge what they want. “Investor” owned housing is generally not sitting empty, so it’s not as much of a drain on housing as its popularity as a punching bag warrants.

It’s important that we don’t pit people who want to rent and people who want to buy against each other. We just need more housing supply. Period.

I have an Nvidia GPU and I use it with Linux, even with Wayland, but it’s still not quite there yet, and because all the fixes have to come from proprietary Nvidia driver changes, nobody really knows when/if everything will be fixed. AMD has been much better with support and switching to AMD for your next.card will save you a lot of headaches.

Another data point: I have a Ryzen 5900x and an RTX 3080. In BG3 I average 80-90 fps with 1% lows over 60fps on a 4k screen with ultra settings and DLSS quality setting.

I definitely use that syntax whenever I can. One of the situations where I get stuck with the nested syntax that I shared is when the result of the function call in the for loop affects the inputs for that function call for the next item in the loop. Another is when I am using a heuristic to sort the iterator that I’m looping over such that most of the time I can break from the loop early, which is helpful if the function in the loop is heavy.
