After the m&m segment I genuinely CANNOT tell anymore

The average majority of people’s commutes are over 30 minutes, about an hour every day. Many people’s commutes are much longer. Combine it with zoning laws that make routine errands and necessities (like grocery shopping, pharmacy’s, basic services) much further from residential areas meaning the average American has to drive a lot. A substantial portion of their life is just spend driving, potentially 1-2 hours a day. If you are already up to your neck in work and chores, that time is extremely precious, so it’s understandable people want to minimize it by speeding, not considering the real risks if doing so.

I spent some time in very rural Maine, and EVERYTHING, even the most basic of necessities were at least 30 minutes away. The nearest hospital was an hour. People speed there like crazy.

I’m not on the side of speeders, or condoning their actions and behaviour, but do realize that it’s coming from a place, not necessarily of entitlement, but desperately trying to claw some of their life back

Its the execution that determines if its appropriation, or appreciation. Appropriation of Japanese is something I’m closely familiar with because my interest in Japanese craftsmanship, knives and blacksmithing

If someone is using the culture to sell a mediocre, tangentially related product, disrespecting the original culture, is appropriation. If the product itself is executed faithfully, with dignity and respect to the culture it comes from, or is inspired from, then it’s appreciation.

There are a lot of Japanese knife scams that poorly attempt to imitate somebody the features of Japanese knives, made out of junk steel, mass produced in China. These are appropriation.

There are some western blacksmiths who are genuinely as skilled as their Japanese counterparts, who make excellent Japanese style knives, faithfully recreating all of the details, features and quality as authentic examples. This is appreciation.

Considering 3 million dollars is more than most people make in a lifetime, you may want to consider default or bankruptcy, unless your mother and sisters are also looking for work.

My mom talks about this shit all the time “flipping burgers isn’t a job!”, and demeans a shit load of other service jobs. She says those are just for teenagers to buy a car or to save for college (as fuckin if).

But theoretically, if they were only for teenagers and broke college students, you really think those millions of jobs would all be filled by people between the age of 16 and 24? Seriously?

I was always made fun of for my fear of heights, but now that I’m older I am very glad I’m scared of heights. Just falling from standing height can kill you if youre unlucky. A fall from 6 feet is very likely to result in permanent spine or head injuries and broken bones.

I am going to be extremely sad considering the amount of research and science that’s about to become privatized. Not just NASA but other government agencies and research grants.

Ive had some really bad problems with eBay and is actually why I went back to amazon.

One item was taking a long time to ship with no label made, I contacted the seller and told me that things were super busy in Japan. I gave him the benefit of a doubt and I checked in another month later, I asked him just to refund it, h but he kept delaying and eventually I just tried to go to eBay customer service. THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. There are only automated menus for you to click through for different options, and since at this point it was longer than 3 months I couldn’t do anything to get a refund, despite zero evidence of shipping being provided.

I have had to refund some stuff from amazon from time to time and a couple other issues, but those are always sorted promptly, especially after speaking to customer service. The complete lack of any human to speak to on ebay gives me zero confidence buying from there.

Despite them discussing all of their advanced technology to allow you to simply walk out with your groceries, around 70% had to be manually reviewed and corrected by an army of Indian technicians. Aw dude Chinese takeout always makes me feel like shit. Not Chinese food, mind you, I grew up with a Chinese family and ate tons of the stuff, i cook it myself too.

The takeout on the other hand is just utterly drenched and sopping wet in oil. You can pick up a few noodles and grease will be dripping from them.
