The existence of the G-spot as a distinct structure has not been proven, nor has the source of female ejaculation.[4][5] Although it has been studied since the 1940s,[2] disagreement persists over its definition and location.[4][6][7] The G-spot may be an extension of the clitoris, which may be the actual cause of vaginal orgasms.[7][8][9] Sexologists and other researchers are concerned that women may consider themselves to be dysfunctional if they do not experience G-spot stimulation, and emphasize that not experiencing it is normal.[5]

The lack of study of women’s anatomy is abysmal.

The clitoris wasn’t fully anatomically described until 2005.

I always forget this fact because it’s so incredulous. Then I re-learn it every time. I’m not looking forward to Alzheimer’s

We also use male dummies in most tests so try not to need your seat belt or ever need cpr if you are a woman

Well, here’s another fun little fact for you to carry around then (that I learned recently and gained mild rage for):

          Factoid

          Invented claim or trivial fact

A factoid was originally defined to mean a false statement presented as a fact. In colloquial speech, it is often used to mean a true but brief or trivial item of news or information.

If I remember correctly Sexologist Dr. Lindsey Doe has a story from her time as a student where she was in a lecture where a dude was talking about there being no evidence of a G-Spot, and joking about squirting as a concept being a made up porn gag, and she’s sitting in the auditorium being like “but I experience G-Spot orgasms and squirt, like… often” 😅

Now, to be fair to the field at least a little bit, I understand why maybe she didn’t want to stand up and shout “I routinely hammer my G-Spot and squirt all over the place” in front of her peers, and even in a clinical environment I could imagine it’s not the most orgasm-conducive setting to have a bunch of electrodes and cameras and stuff setup and then to be like “okay, now please show us all what it’s like at home. Anytime. We’re all ready to watch”

Before I met her, my wife went to an anatomy course in which the teacher apparently said women couldn’t have kinks (though I believe the word used was “philia”).

I wonder how many of these teachers telling others that women don’t like sex were just in denial about their own dead bedroom at home. “Oh honey, nono, it’s not you, it’s that women just aren’t interested in sex in general! Now go off and earn your paycheck, I need to give some special instructions to the pool boy. You know how particular I am about the state of our pool!”

i feel like it’s a good default assumption for any “negative” sex-related thing. See also “of course being gay is a choice! I only give in to my depraved urges to throat 15 feet of sailor dick a couple of times per year!”

Unfortunately there surrounds a whole lot of stigma around studying the female sex of humans. We know more about how one of horses or cows function, because if someone is seeking funding to study the human female sex there is an immediate opinion you’re just a perv.

I read a few interviews about this quite a while ago, I’ll try to find them…

A 2024 scoping review of the full body of evidence concluded that the orgasm gap is largely driven by social dynamics rather than biological mechanisms.

        I’m shocked! Shocked, I tell you! /s
