Based on my research, the first season of the Netflix live action show (8 episodes) covers the first 61 anime episodes. At this rate, the live action show could still continue for 17 more seasons.

In all seriousness, the more I think about it, the more perfect this anime was for adaptation. There’s a ton of filler in the anime, but otherwise good story beats and character development. When you condense that down, you get all the good and leave out the cruft.

I watched all of the live action show this weekend, and really enjoyed it. I figured the anime tone and goofiness that they clearly baked right into it would work against it like all the other live action anime adaptations, but it feels like it’s a lot less of a quick cash grab than the others. Some real love and attention went into it and it’s a lot of fun.

I know nothing about the anime but I LOVED the show. So heartwarming and funny but also very dark sometimes! I would watch 17 seasons

I wonder if they used the East Blue Episode that was released in like 2017 that condenses those 61 Episodes to a single one that is about 1:30h long and has the exact same ending.

Let’s hope they’ll keep Little Buggy’s Great Adventure. That filler was hilarious.

Just finished the first season this weekend and honestly loved the concept. Not the best acting for the extras but it was interesting to see the live iterations of many characters. I would love to see a second season.

Hah. Like Netflix is ever going to approve a third season of anything ever again.

They have twenty to go, tops.

Yes. Netflix contracts are famous for having compensation bumps after the second season. Netflix tends to kill everything after the second season.

I mean, One Piece is kind of famous for it’s breadth. I feel like they wouldn’t greenlight it if they weren’t prepared to follow through.

yeah that’s a very big concern only after showing big mom and other wacky characters and literally every fight after post marineford arc

Being allowed to age 2 years in 12 years (that’s how long others are estimating to complete the story while cutting out most of the filler like they’ve apparently done so far) is a LUXURY in Hollywood 😛

More like 500 if we skip the filler and keep good pace unlike the anime which is and has been complete bullshit for close to a decade now.

More like 200 if with fillers you cut on all the bullshit episodes made it to take time, the flashbacks and side-bosses not relevant for the whole story. (I don’t believe anyway in more that 50)

Fans of the OPLA getting into the anime realizing they have 1000+ episodes to watch to catch up (this will take years)
