A small loan of a million dollars

It’s a random list for sure, but vendor lock-in can also be a problem for companies hosting their stuff in the cloud in a similar manner to what’s happening with unity.

I’ve been on-call in 3 of my past jobs in Germany, most of it was pretty similar, 1 week per person, 600-800€ per week and some extra pay on incidents. Current job:

1. ~500€ for a week and I get an extra day off after each week on-call, but no extra pay for incidents
2. With the extra day off it’s really nice. Our team is light on incidents too.
3. Not much past that. The standard German worker protection laws would apply, but pushing those would not help me much and it might not be the best career move.

Not sure if these are hot takes:

• Difficult to test == poorly designed
• Code review is overrated and often poorly executed, most things should be checked automatically (review should still be done though)
• Which programming language doesn’t matter (within reason), while amount of programming languages matters a lot

Sieht insgesamt ganz gut aus, die Darstellung gefällt mir, insbesondere das mit der inneren und äußeren Gehaltsspanne.

Es ist natürlich nicht 100% akkurat, die meisten Eingaben beeinflussen das Ergebnis, wobei am oberen Ende eigentlich fast nur die Firma (US-tech oder halt nicht) zählt. Aber dafür gibt’s ja levels.fyi.

Welcher Beruf denn?

Der wichtigste Treiber deines Gehalts ist immer der Marktwert, also was dir andere Unternehmen zahlen würden. Kollegen und Chef als Vergleich zu nehmen ist immer suboptimal.

An deiner Stelle würde ich die Gehälter recherchieren, dabei musst du aufpassen, dass du Ort, Firmengröße und Branche mit einbeziehst.

Wieso sollte das egal sein? Studiengänge in den Bereichen Informatik, Mathe oder Ingenieurswesen sind auf dem Arbeitsmarkt natürlich beliebter als welche in Kunst oder Musik.
